History

The first virtual reality headsets were created in the mid 1900’s. The origin of the machine came from televisions . Throughout the evolution of the headset , they seemed to help more, than to entertain for example the first virtual reality headset was created in 1966 when Tom Furness created a flight simulator for the armed forces. Before a story written in the 1930’aby Stanley G. Weinbaum called Pygmalion’s Spectacles told of a pair of goggles in which you could, smell, taste and touch which basically became a reality over time. Over the years virtual reality has been an advancement in health as well, as it trained surgeons . An example of this is Virtual surgery which allows students studying to be surgeons and have the ability to practice on virtual patients so that they can perfect their precision for when they perform surgery on actual patients. In 1993 SEGA announce new VR glasses which had head tracking, stereo sound, and LCD screens in the visor. At the time the product was $200 or about $322 in todays money, however the product faced technical development issues, so all in all the product was a huge bust. Coming from the first concepts in the early 1900’s virtual reality has come a long way, now with high density display smartphones that enable lightweight and practical virtual reality devices.
